In English is rather easy to get started. But mastering this beast is a borderline futile attempt. The crude mixture of mostly German and Latin words is bewildering. I keep coming across words I have hardly ever or never seen before in e.g. cultural reviews of films or theatre. And don't get me started on writing English. You have to learn it all by heart. When it comes to sentence construction I agree that German is more complicated than other languages I know. But the freedom of expression is worth it. I feel quite restricted at times when I use English. An example is the sentence "You have done that well." No other word sequence is correct in English. Now 6 German sentence versions, each with another emphasis: 1. Du hast das gut gemacht. (Same as English) 2. Das hast Du gut gemacht. (Focus on what you did well.) 3. Gut hast Du das gemacht. (Praise level 2) 4. Gut gemacht hast Du das. (Max. praise level 3) 5. Hast Du das gut gemacht. (Astonishment because of your achievement, putting a ? at the end of that sentence also works) 6. Gemacht hast Du das gut. ("gut" is hidden away at the end of the sentence. So there is a problem or catch associated with your achievement.) I hope I could shed some light on the chirurgical precision of expressing myself in my mother tongue.

So I’m Mexican but I’m like the only one in my family who doesn’t fluently speak or understand the language. I’ve been listening to Spanish my whole life, but I just can’t connect it. Listening isn’t enough. I’ve taken classes, read books, watched tv, listened to music, etc. idk why it just doesn’t click but it’s so frustrating. My pronunciation is fine, I sound fluent. But I’m not :(

You dont have to worry about which Spanish to learn they are all intelligible for the most part. In Mexican Spanish there is a lot of slang that is used by young people and with friends in a very very CASUAL way. People have a misconception in thinking that Mexican slang is an accent. LOL There is also a stereotype on social media that Mexicans constantly use slang. This isnt true at all🤭🤣

-ecek/-acak means both the future tense suffix and the suffix that makes a noun from a verb to mean "xecek = something to x". For example, pazardan yiyecek aldi. = she bought something to eat (food) from the market. Elma yiyecek misin? = Will (would) you eat an apple? Other examples, giyecek = something to wear. Yapacak = something to do. Yapacak cok is var = there is a lot of work to do. In theory, you can make nouns by combining any verb with -ecek but yiyecek and giyecek are so common that there are no other words for food and clothes to replace with.

Anyways, I have no desire to learn spanish, but, I'm going to go for it. Day 10 today. I'm understanding Esta/es Verb endings, spanish seems like it stacks a lot.. And, about 500 words. Hi there, I am a Turk who has been living in Vancouver Canada for 40 years. Your Turkish is understandable and fluent. As soon as you speak in Turkish , it is obvious Turkish is not your native language. When you go to Turkey, you will change your opinion about Mexican food ,as Turks have the best street foods and one of the richest kitchens in the world. When you go to Turkey, be careful and always be street smart . Most of the Turks are friendly and nice. Be careful making eye contact with people in Turkey ,as it means different things in Turkey . Good luck and let me know if I can help you improve your Turkish or help you learn about Turkey .

there is one more thing. i saw you bought a paper flag in earlier video. DO NOT THROW IT to garbage. (at least in front of people) any kind of disrespect to Turkish flag can get you into trouble. first of all, there is law. and people see Turkish flag more than just a national symbol. its red color comes from death of matyrs. people may get really frustrated to see the flag torn or thrown to ground. there was a sad event in cyprus years ago. a cypriot guy tried to climb to turkish flag pole, probably protesting against turkish occupation but Turkish soldiers dont see it that way 🤷‍♂
